What I Do:
I am primarily in charge of the Wednesday night experience for Merge. That means lessons, small groups, direction, art, games, explosions (both controlled and otherwise), prizes, all animals great and small, and candy. When I’m not focusing on Merge, I occasionally traipse up to Fuel to teach. If I’m not there, I am hard at work for the Shift. I guess you could say that I flow like water, plugging the holes wherever they may be.
What I Love About Christ Fellowship:
I grew up here! This has been my church home since the inaugural sermon. Sentimental value aside, I love a church that maintains its agility for change no matter the size of its congregation. It’s exciting to be involved in a body that is constantly seeking to collaborate with others in an attempt to better the way we share the Gospel.
How I Ended Up at Christ Fellowship:
My dad felt led to start a church in Mckinney. As a lad of 10, I was obligated to follow.
Before Christ Fellowship:
After graduating from the University of Texas in 2007 with a BS in Radio-Television-Film production, I worked as a producer for Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket in Dallas, Tx. While there, I produced everything from post-game shows and NFL draft coverage, to talk shows. The funny thing about chasing your “dream job” is that “dream jobs” don’t pay very well starting out. Ergo, I filled my free time learning humility as an hourly wage employee. It wasn’t long before my constant volunteering with Student Ministries transitioned into a part-time job.
It wasn’t long before God began tugging on my heart to take on a more permanent role in ministry. The gentle tugging turned into full on grabbing and throwing as I came to realize that I was spending my time and energy running from a call. I find myself a ready and willing servant of Christ, ready to do what is necessary for the Gospel. That being said, if you want to watch sports with me, I will probably drop whatever I am doing to minister to you through the shared appreciation of athletic competition.
How I Met Jesus:
My parents introduced me to the Gospel before I had words to respond, but it was actually my older brother Bart who led me in a life-altering prayer of salvation.
Favorite Bible Verse:
Galatians 5:13 - You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.
Hobbies:
I really love to read and write. My other passions include both making and appreciating music, dissecting football, baseball, and basketball games, watching everything from the cheapest B movies to the most mind-bending films, being outdoors, drinking coffee and tea, and torturing my mouth with spicy food.
Random Fun Fact:
I have always wanted to be a game show host.
