Go and Be is a project of Christ Fellowship’s community impact ministry, funded by Movement to Multiply. The following is one volunteer’s story about this special day of service to the community…
Jeff and I enjoyed being a part of the community outreach weekend at CF. It was nice to see a church that does more that just talk about getting outside the four walls of the building to actually GO and BE the church. We traveled from Oklahoma City to join this unique project. We attend CFOnline as often as we can, because it is our only connection to fellowship at this time.
Our team's project was the local Housing Authority. We accepted the task of painting some of the homes. It was a very humbling experience for many at the project to see the condition of the home and the work required to restore its' condition.
Personally for me, it was a reminder of how far I have come in my life. I lived in public housing in Oklahoma as a young unwed mother. I have firsthand experience of the depravity of the conditions that young mothers and families face when they must seek assistance. I know the hopelessness and the despair that accompany those in poverty. The stigma that is attached to those who must live in public housing is very sad.
I am here today because of the generosity of those who chose to GO and BE instead of just talking about it. I am blessed to have been a smal part of this project because I have seen the hand of God work in my life many times since that young unwed mother entered the world, cold, alone and afraid.
Christ Fellowship serves a great need when they practice GO and BE.
Sincerely,
Jeff and Dee Chalakani

Go and Be is a whole church service event where we deploy all of Christ Fellowship in partnership with other 3e churches to make a statement: there’s a God in heaven who loves the people of this community, and we get to bring people that news through our humble acts of service. Let’s join together as families, groups and as a Christ Fellowship family to serve our local communities with outrageous service, bringing a little bit of heaven to earth.
